A British Airways passenger plane caught fire on a runway Tuesday afternoon at the McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, airport officials said.
British Airways Flight 2276 was preparing to depart for London’s Gatwick Airport when the fire broke out around 4:20 p.m. local time, according to a statement on the airport’s Twitter account. The Boeing 777-200 was carrying 159 passengers and 13 crew, the airport said, and two people were transported to the hospital for minor injuries.
As of 4:59 p.m., there was “clear indication” that the fire was out, according to the airport.
The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.
