The upcoming play based on a new, original Harry Potter story will be presented in two parts when it debuts next summer, J.K. Rowling revealed on Thursday.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is being adapted into a stage play by Jack Thorne based on an original story from Rowling, Thorne and John Tiffany. It is set to premiere at London’s Palace Theatre in summer 2016, according to Pottermore.
J.K. Rowling tweeted Thursday the “epic nature” of the story led the masterminds behind the play to split it into two parts.

Thorne told Pottermore, the official Harry Potter website, that he’s ecstatic to be able to flesh out the upcoming production.
“It shares a scale and ambition with all the Harry Potter stories so in order to do this justice we have decided to present the play in two parts,” Thorne said.
The news comes just days after Pottermore unveiled a redesign and published a new family history of the series’ titular character.
