From Toyota to Pepsi, brands and organizations the world over are celebrating Back to the Future Day. But the Michigan State Police may have one-upped them all. In a Facebook post, the troopers reference the iconic scene in 1989’s Back to the Future II in which Marty McFly and Doc Brown jump ahead to Oct. 21, 2015 in their time-traveling DeLorean.
“Michigan State Police troopers stopped a silver DeLorean today for driving 88 mph in a 55 mph zone,” the post reads, referencing the necessary speed at which the car can time-travel. “The two occupants, Dr. Emmett Brown and Marty McFly, were given a verbal warning to drive more safely on Michigan roads.
Doc Brown’s response, according to the police? “Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads.”
