Walmart employees are asking for their merchandise discounts to be expanded to cover more food options.
Workers currently get a 10% discount on purchases in the store, with the exception of most food products, Bloomberg reports. Walmart employees are calling for more food items to be added into their discount.
An online petition calling for an extended discount on all food has over 12,900 signatures.
Walmart workers have previously been successful when pressuring the company: in June, the company increased wages for 100,000 employees.
A spokesperson for the company told Bloomberg that Walmart offered $500 million in discounts last year for foods like fruits and vegetables and other products. The company did not say whether it is considering the discount expansion.
