Police have charged a 29-year-old man with attempted murder following Saturday night’s knife attack in a London subway station, an event authorities are treating as a terrorist incident, the BBC reported.
The suspect, Muhaydin Mire, is allegedly the individual who stabbed three people at Leytonstone station in East London, leaving one with serious but not life-threatening injuries. Police tasered and arrested a man following the attack.
Commander Richard Walton, head of London’s Metropolitan Police’s counterterrorism task force, said in a statement that the terrorist threat in the city remains “severe” and that further attacks are “highly likely,” the New York Times reported.
