Chrissy Teigen thinks the recent Ryan Lochte vandalism and “robbery” saga is a waste of our time. It turns out Ryan Lochte, Jimmy Feigen, Jack Conger, and Gunnar Bentz weren’t actually robbed, but instead, vandalized a bathroom at a gas station on their way home from a party.
Teigen took to Twitter yesterday to comment on the Lochte situation and why there are actually more pressing matters at hand. One of the biggest stories that took over the news was the photo of a young boy in Aleppo who survived an air strike.
The jarring photograph and video of five-year-old Omran Daqneesh shocked the world, allowing for a terrifying and all-too real snapshot into the violence and warfare in Syria. Teigen tweeted this image, connecting it to the news about Ryan Lochte.
It’s not that Teigen believes the Lochte news isn’t important. What matters, however, is context.
In another Tweet, Teigen admits that she, too, falls victim to focusing on “entertaining” news.
TIME reports that Omar Daqneesh is “fine and well.” Swimmer Jimmy Feigen also made an $11,000 donation to a Brazilian “institution” before departing back to the U.S.
