Credit cards often have their own flavor profileโ€“their own set of benefits that cater to specific spending patterns. The card_name does, too, as it rewards people for spending on experiences like going to concerts and dining out. It also sprinkles in some cash-back rewards for groceries to give you some everyday value.

Pros:

  • High cash-back rate on entertainment, travel, dining, and groceries.
  • No annual fee or foreign transaction fees.
  • Includes a welcome bonus.

Cons:

  • Must use Capital Oneโ€™s portal for the highest cash-back rates.
  • Grocery category excludes superstores like Walmart and Target.
  • Streaming category excludes Prime Video.

To be sure, this card is worth using only if you regularly take advantage of its bonus categories. But given that it has no annual fee, itโ€™s well worth considering for those who like to wine, dine, and entertain.

TIMEโ€™s Take

card_name

The card_name is an excellent no-annual-fee card if you often spend on entertainment, travel, and dining out. Its 8% cash-back rate on Capital One entertainment purchases is among the best youโ€™ll see among cards with no annual fee. That said, youโ€™re limited to using Capital Oneโ€™s portals to buy tickets if you want the highest cashback rates. Other cards might give you better rates in certain categories or flat-rate cash back, but this is a great choice if you regularly spend on experiences.

Capital One SavorOne pros & cons

Pros

  • High cash-back rate on entertainment, travel, dining, and groceries.
  • No annual fee or foreign transaction fees.
  • Includes a welcome bonus.

Cons

  • Must use Capital Oneโ€™s portal for the highest cash-back rates.
  • Grocery category excludes superstores like Walmart and Target.
  • Streaming category excludes Prime Video.

Who is the card for?

The card_nameโ€™s high cash-back rates are its signature benefit, so this card is for you if youโ€™ll take advantage of those categories. Here is a look at each of those categories:

8% on Capital One Entertainment

If concerts, food festivals, sporting events, or stand-up comedy are your jam, this card might be for you. These are the kinds of events available through Capital One Entertainment, which will net you 8% cash back.

Availability of nearby events may vary depending on where you live, and you may find popular events are sold out. Still, many events are available on the platform at any given moment, making this an easy way to score a high cash-back rate.

5% on Capital One Travel

Capital One Travel is a portal that lets you book flights, hotels, and rental cars. When you book flights or rental cars through the portal with your SavorOne card, you can earn 5% cash back. Note that flights are not included in the 5% category.

3% cash-back categories

Several categories earn 3% cash back when you use the card_name. These include dining, entertainment, streaming services, and groceries. In other words, any purchases that code as one of these categories will earn 3% cash back.

Unlike some cards that put caps on their 3% categories, the card_name earns unlimited 3% cash back in these categories. However, note that the grocery category doesnโ€™t include Walmart or Target, and the streaming services category doesnโ€™t include Prime Video. That means these purchases will fall into the 1% category, which you earn on all other purchases.

Note: Capital One recommends an excellent credit level for applicants. This means you should have a credit score of at least 740 if you want to apply.

Features

card_nameโ€™s cash-back categories are its main benefit, but it has some other features worth noting. Consider these features before signing up:

Earn a welcome offer

The card_name includes a bonus_miles_full. This bonus is typical of no-annual-fee cards, but itโ€™s still a nice incentive, especially since you can potentially earn it without paying any fees.

Low intro APR

This card comes with a intro_apr_rate,intro_apr_duration and balance_transfer_intro_apr,balance_transfer_intro_duration. For balance transfers, there is a balance_transfer_fees balance transfer fee for amounts transferred in the first 15 months or at a promotional APR that Capital One may offer to you at another time.

Reasonable regular APR

The regular APR for this card is reg_apr,reg_apr_type. Some of the best no annual fee credit cards may offer lower APRs. However, most of these cards have a regular APR similar to what you get with the card_name. If you want to avoid interest charges, your best recourse is always to pay your bill in full every month.

Flexible redemptions

The card_name gives you several redemption options, including cash back, reimbursement for previous purchases, and gift cards. You can also convert rewards to one of Capital Oneโ€™s airline transfer partners. Points transfer to most partners at a 1:1 ratio. You wonโ€™t see the largest U.S.-based airlines here; choices include such airlines as Air France KLM, British Airways, Singapore Airlines, and Virgin Red.

The fine print

  • Regular APR: reg_apr,reg_apr_type.
  • Cash advance APR: cash_advance_apr.
  • Cash advance fee: cash_advance_fee.
  • Balance transfer fee: balance_transfer_fees.
  • Late payment fee: Up to late_payment_fee.

Additional hidden perks

The card_name includes several additional hidden perks. They include a mix of travel and shopping perks:

  • Extended warranty: Get additional warranty protection on eligible items purchased with your card.
  • Travel accident insurance: Get automatic insurance for a covered loss for no extra charge when you use your SavorOne card to purchase a fare.
  • $0 fraud liability: You wonโ€™t be responsible for unauthorized charges made with your card.
  • Capital One shopping: Access to Capital Oneโ€™s online shopping portal that automatically applies coupons to your purchases.
  • PayPal redemptions: You can use your Capital One rewards to make purchases at millions of online merchants.
  • Complimentary concierge: Get 24/7 assistance making travel, dining, and entertainment reservations.
  • 24/7 travel assistance: If your card is lost or stolen, you can get an emergency replacement and a cash advance.

Paired with potentially high cash-back rates, these hidden perks can help you get the most value out of the card_name.

What could be improved

For the most part, this card does what it does well, and there isnโ€™t much left to be desired. However, there are a few areas where it would be nice to see some changes.

For some people, the biggest disappointment of this card could be the exclusion of Target, Walmart, and Prime Video from their respective bonus categories. You can still earn 1% cash back on these purchases, but the inability to earn extra cash back is a bit of letdown.

Another potential source of frustration is that you can only get bonus cash back on hotels and rental cars if you book through Capital One Travel. At least with entertainment, you can still earn 3% cash back even when you donโ€™t use Capital Oneโ€™s portal. But with hotels and rental cars, youโ€™re stuck using Capital Oneโ€™s system if you want bonus cash back.

Bottom line

If you enjoy nights out on the town going to concerts, eating at restaurants, and traveling, the card_name might just be the card for you. It also includes a welcome offer, and you have several redemption options, including transferring points to airline partners. While the exclusion of Target, Walmart, and Prime Video may be a disappointment, you can find plenty of value with this card, all with no annual fee.
